Did you know that as many as 60 per cent of children arrive at school having had either no breakfast at all, or just a bag of crisps or a chocolate bar? Schools taking part in pilot breakfast programs have reported improved behaviour, concentration levels and attendance. This program develops student awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle and eating breakfast. Presently, a team of Holy Trinity staff serve breakfast to students every morning from 8:00 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. in room 169. Currently, approximately 40 students benefit from this program which is sponsored by PVNCCDS Board Nutrition Program, the Knights of Columbus, The Catholic Women’s League and Costco.
Students are offered english muffins, fruit juice and granola bars.
We continue to look for donations to support our students in need of a healthy breakfast. If you are interested in making a donation, please contact Lisa Diachenko, Representative of the Holy Trinity Breakfast Club at 905-404-9349 ext. 122.
