Award Programs

Graduation Awards:

Designation of Ontario Scholar:

A student may be designated an Ontario Scholar if they are earning an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) in their current school year  AND satisfy the following requirements:

Note: Students returning for a 5th year, who have earned their OSSD the previous year, can still be designated an Ontario Scholar.

Governor General’s Academic Medal (Bronze):

A BRONZE medal is awarded to the student who achieves the highest average upon graduation from a secondary school.

The average includes all grade 11 and grade 12 courses as listed on the student’s official Transcript of Grades issued by the Ministry of Education. The average cannot be anticipated; it must be calculated based on final results after provincial examinations, where the Ministry of Education requires final exams.

Equitable access for the entire student population is an important aspect of the medal’s value.

Regardless of the pathway or the subjects chosen, all students are eligible for consideration upon graduation.

Courses taken after graduation to upgrade marks are not to be included.

Lieutenant Governor’s Community Volunteer Award for Students:

Each year, an award is given to one graduating student at each of Ontario's secondary schools.

This award recognizes high school students who go above and beyond the required number (40) of volunteer hours needed to graduate.

Each student receives a personalized certificate and an award pin. This award is administered by the Ontario Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries.

Holy Trinity Academic and Community Sponsored Awards:

All academic and community sponsored awards given at our graduation ceremony are decided upon by the Awards Committee. To be considered for Community Sponsored awards, students are encouraged to complete the Graduate Biography/Award Application Form that will be included in their Grade 12 Day Package. These packages are distributed in early April each year.
