Dear Parent/Guardians:

As you may be aware, our school community is mourning the loss of one of our Grade 10 students, Danielle Caterina. Danielle was born with Cystic Fibrosis. In February 2007, Danielle received a lung transplant. She returned to school but early in this semester she became sick again. She has been at Toronto Sick Kid’s Hospital since April where she had been on a Canada wide waiting list hopeful of a lung donor. Unfortunately, Danielle passed away on Monday afternoon.

There are visitations at the Courtice Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and again from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The funeral will be held on Friday morning at St. Gertrude’s Parish in Oshawa at 10:30 am.

We are also aware that one of our Grade 11 students lost his father this week. The funeral for
Mr. Porco is scheduled on Friday morning at 11:00 am at St. Therese Catholic Church.

Understandably, quite a number of our students and staff will choose to be in attendance at the funerals. It makes good sense to reschedule our Friday exam day. On Monday, June 23 the schedule for two exams will be as follows:

Period 3/4 Exam: 8:21 am to 10:30 am
Lunch Break: 10:30 am to 11:25 am
Period 2 Exam: 11:30 am to 1:30 pm

Buses depart at 2:20 pm

There is no doubt this is a difficult time for the Holy Trinity school community. In the meantime, we ask you to keep the Caterina and Porco families in your prayers.
