Trinity Earth has had a very busy and productive year at Holy Trinity.
September began with participation in the annual Durham Regions Groundwater
Festival. Another successful year. The fall began with the creation of an
informational video on the importance of preserving our environment with
particular emphasis on the negative global impact of industry bottled water.
This video was shared with our feeder schools and the Board of Directors.
Following this video, and application to Metro Food's green apple programme
and a board presentation by our members resulted in a $1000.00 grant from
Metro Foods for the installation of spigots on our water fountains to allow
for easy filling of reusable water bottles in our school. 50/50 draws
supported by staff at HT and participation in the PVNC Board Environmental
Symposium in the spring resulted in funds towards our tree planting and "no
idle" campaign signs.
Further applications for grant monies resulted in a second Metro Foods grant
for $1000.00 which was put towards expanding our recycling program and the
initiation of backyard composting at Holy Trinity. Participation by our
members in our first Envirothon was also enjoyed this year.
